Artist Alina Mann presents RÄUME III exhibition at DEPARTURE in the former Berlin Tegel Airport from September 13 - 18, 2022 and as part of the BERLIN ART WEEK 2022

RÄUME has chosen Tegel Airport as a location for its third exhibition. The beloved TXL is currently experiencing the dissolution of its purpose. This is the moment in which the positive uncertainty of the future combines with the longing for the past. Tegel at this moment is in the state of departure without knowing where the journey is going.

A large-scale work of art will be created on the ground between the air cargo hall and Terminal.

RÄUME 3 is an exhibition series for locations without function, which seem as abandoned  shells. These places that are no longer accessible, are about to be demolished or are waiting to be refurbished. The spaces are hard to find or have become faded landmarks due to their monumental appearance.

RÄUME III intervenes during this state of being functionless and opens a dialogue through an artistic guest performance featuring over 60 artists. The location is given an aesthetic meaning that suggests a new beginning for a limited period of time. The artists* who intervene in these places have a deep understanding of the uniqueness of the context, and of the energy that once flowed through these spaces. The primary criteria for selecting the artists* involved their willingness to be part of a transformation and a group committed to dialogue.

Her defined architecture style is clear with linear forms that come into their own. Currently, Alina is working on new stand-alone works, constantly searching for new perspectives and unexpected encounters

RÄUME founder Alina Mann was born (*1979) and raised in Berlin. Influenced by long stints and commissioned works in Los Angeles, Rio de Janeiro, Dubai and Bangkok, Alina is an architect by trade, and by heart and soul. Her work is often complemented by her own artworks at the request of her clients.

Alina is grateful to her brother and business partner Dino Grobe, who has been instrumental in the realization of the RÄUME art projects.

Together they create big art shows in abandoned buildings. The exhibition series RÄUME is a synthesis of art and architecture. Architect Alina Mann seeks out special vacant buildings and opens them for a short period as projects and exhibition spaces for artists.
