    Munich — Announcing Josephine No. 10, the new glass from Josephinenhütte. This hand-blown glass is designed to showcase the world's finest spirits, allowing the complexities of premium distillates to unfold. Josephine No. 10 will be available starting December 3rd for US $99 per glass at Josephinen.com.

    Following the iconic wine glass collection, Josephinenhütte is now developing a new beverage category that deserves more attention. "Fine spirits are more than just spirits –they are the essence of hand-selected, fully ripe fruits, presenting their aromas in their purest, most concentrated form," says Josephinenhütte design director Kurt Josef Zalto.
    The glass's thin-walled, curved design is inspired by an opening flower bud. Its characteristic shape reduces the harshness of the alcohol and intensifies the aroma. At the same time, it provides a silky mouthfeel. This was confirmed by Oliver Ebert, award-winning mixologist.

    The Shape of Taste – the exceptional design of the Josephine No. 10: The long, elegant stem ensures that the hand remains as far away from the nose as possible when drinking. This allows the aromas of the distillate to be perceived without influence from external elements.

    The characteristic bend, together with the large bowl surface, accelerates the ascent of fine, volatile aromas. In the slightly waisted, shortened aroma funnel, however, the aromas are bundled and directed purposefully towards the nose to increase aroma intensity.
    The slightly outwardly curved rim allows fine spirits to flow more slowly into the mouth, giving them more time to unfold their flavor. The precisely calculated opening of the aroma funnel allows the nose to perceive aromas even while drinking, which further enhances the taste expression of the distillate.
    The development of the glass involved countless tastings with distillers, sommeliers, and spirits experts. Initially, two completely different prototypes were compared, which showed, on the one hand, the influence of the bowl surface and aroma funnel on aroma perception. On the other hand, the optimal distance between the nose and the liquid before and during drinking could be worked out.
